Your Intuition Is Talking To You – Are You Taking Notes?

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Many people are interested in developing their intuition, but don’t know where to start that process. There are lots of techniques you can use to awaken your intuition, many of which are surprisingly simple.

First of all, the conscious awareness of your intuition alone will make it stronger and clearer.  By making an effort to recognize when your intuition speaks, you open your intuitive self up to speak and give it a stronger voice.

An excellent way to start listening to your intuition is to begin writing things down.  Every time you believe you are having an intuitive thought or feeling, write down a little note about it.Keep a voice recorder with you, so that you can record any intuitive insights you may be feeling throughout the day.Write down the note and a brief summary of what you felt.  Be as specific as you can.

Remember to not over think what you are writing down.  Intuition is by nature the first thought that pops into your head, and not the ideas you get after analyzing those initial feelings.Periodically take a moment to review your notes and see which insights were accurate.  Seeing the amount of information that you get right will boost your faith in your intuition.  Your intuition will automatically get stronger the moment you truly believe in it.

As you notice your ability to listen to your intuition becomes better, also write down how your intuition sounds. You’ll start to see that it will continually become more clarified and louder. You will also become aware that the frequency of intuitive insights increases.  Recording this in your notebook will allow you to go back and see how far you have progressed.

You may also want to write in your notebook some detailed specifics of intuitive feelings that either were extremely accurate or were very inaccurate.  This may help you to realize subtle nuances of your intuition that point you to the actual truth.

The more you recognize when your intuition is speaking, the more it will speak. The more you listen to your intuition speak, the clearer it will become. The clearer your intuition speaks to you, the more effectively you’ll be able to use the intuitive insights that it communicates to you.

What Is the “Sixth Sense”?

Monday, March 30th, 2009

I used to think that the phrase “sixth sense” was a bit nonsensical.  It wasn’t until things started happening that I couldn’t explain with my rational mind that I bgan to think more deeply about the topic.

I began asking myself more interesting questions…

If we all possess five senses and we use them extensively, then what is the sixth? Where does it come from? And where is it located?

These questions ran through my mind for years, and I’ve slowly started to piece them together. A lot of people say intuition is located in the ‘crown chakra’ in the middle of the forehead. But I always felt it in my stomach… or as a sort of “knowing.” I didn’t really feel my “sixth sense” in the forehead like others.

Over time, I began to grasp more the meaing of the “sixth sense.” That it wasn’t really a place on my body (though sometimes it manifests as feeling), “sixth sense” is another word for intuition.  I’ve also discovered that people called it different names: Hunch, voice in head, gut feeling and so on to name a few.

Partly out of curiosity, and partly out of necessity (feeling like these unexplainable intuitive experiences kept happening) I yearned to explore more about the subject and I read from somewhere that one needs to sharpen the five senses before he could tap in to the sixth. This piece of information not only got me thinking, but it got me working as well.

It wasn’t until then that I considered the possibility that our senses could be sharpened. I always thought that we had our own frequencies, animals had their own and nature was in perfect harmony. Apparently I was incorrect, and intuition could be awakened. In fact, it’s wake up call had to be loud and frequent.

One thing that has been suggested, though I haven’t really followed it as a practice (I sort of did this on my own, anyway), is to switch off lights in the room and study the area around me to identify shapes I see. Then repeat  this exercise in different rooms in my house each night. Though you might not initially notice anything different, you may feel a hunch that you’re going in a meaningful direction.Night is when I often can hear my intuition more easily.

Perhaps this happens when we use all of our physical senses and we can get a little disoriented. Instead, when we focus in on a very specific sense, then we’re much more able to tune out the other stuff… and this allows us to more easily hear our intuition.

Another exercise that can help sharpen auditory skills is to lay in bed at night when everything is quiet and try to listen to the subtle sounds that surrounded you. When I’ve done this, sometimes I experienced what is known as ‘dead silence’ at other times, I’ve heard distance voices and sounds of vehicles. Whenever I heard these sounds, I tried to come up with a mental picture to associate it with.

These intuition awakening exercises are all ones I’ve had to discover on my own, without any real guidance. It’s been a lot of trial and error.  Recently, I came across a new program called “The Intuition Zone” and I’ve been reviewing it and going through it to se if it might help me develop my intuition further.

So far it’s been helpful (though I do have my gripes), and I’m looking forward to going through the program more in depth.  If you’d like to follow along in my experiences with the program, then be sure to check out my Intuition Zone Review blog.
