If you are a creative person, that’s the fashion statement you want to make to the world. The last thing you want to do is wear designs somebody else has created. That’s not being creative. If your intention is to stand out as unique, you’ll have to come up with a unique approach to what you wear.

If you’re brave enough, you can easily make yourself seen. Walk around a crowded area completely naked except for a giro ski helmet tied around your waist and you will be turning heads left and right! Yes, designer clothes turn heads, too, but they don’t say anything about you except that you can afford to buy them. There’s nothing truly unique about that!

First of all, what is the statement you want to make? Why is it important to you to be identified as uniquely creative. Most likely, it’s because you want to make a career out of your creativity, but you’re not a clothing designer. You may be an artist, a photographer or a graphic designer who is working a nine to five job and want to make a living doing what you love best.

A fledgling artist’s first big break can be his first exhibition. Maybe that’s you. You know that all of your friends, workmates and even casual acquaintances are going to be there. You also know that not one of them is going to buy your art. You need to get people with money to come to your opening. To do that, you’re going to have to promote yourself.

You’re going to have to come out of your shell and be bold and original. Make up some slick flyers and go to the best parts of town and pass them out. Go ahead and wear that helmet, but paint it in your style and use it as part of your walking billboard.

Consider even your footwear as a potential canvas. Do you have a pair of boots? Why not take that ordinary brown boot and paint a picture on it. Paint a different picture on the other boot and also paint that ski helmet. Then you’ve turned yourself into a living painting!

Of course, you could also take the safe and conservative route and buy yourself some nice clothes and a trendy leather watch. Sure, they’ll show that you have a good sense of style. They won’t say much about your creativity, though. On the contrary, they’ll just tell the world that you’re like everybody else. Go ahead, be bold and original and wear your own art!

If you’re going to make a fashion statement to promote your creativity, you’ll have be creative about it. Copying this example isn’t going to help. Dig deep and find your own source of creativity. Then be bold enough to express it. If it doesn’t work, you can always go back to your day job!
