Monday, May 31st, 2010

Stress is when your peace of mind is interrupted and your emotions are worked up. You can feel stress in your home, work or your child can feel stress at school. If not handled properly, it can mess with our minds and our health.

Stress feels like you are carrying a large burden on your shoulders. You have a lot of responsibilities that seem like it all falls toward you and no one else. You have feelings of anxiety and frustration.  Stress can contribute to health issues like gum disease.

There are times when you will get angry because so much has come upon you and it seems to be overwhelming. You feel overpowered to do anything so it’s easy for you to get into worrying about things that you can’t control.

It doesn’t have to be big things that will cause stress. It could be some of the smallest things that can set you off and make you tense.

There are different things and events that can cause you to be stressed. What may cause stress for one person may not be the same for someone else. It’s basically different strokes for different folks when it comes to stress.

Stress can be physical, internal, emotional and external. They can be caused by a loss you’ve experienced, overworking yourself, sickness, arguments and other problems that you face.

You can also experience stress from office politics. This is not something that you should get involved in. It is not good for you mentally, especially if you’re dealing with other problems. Office politics can be very brutal and you have to know how to deal with it. The last thing you want to do is to bring it home with you.

This would include pregnancy when the risk of getting gum disease rises.

There’s Room For Hope If Those Who Engage In Hazardous Drinking Can Fortify Their Goal Setting So They Can Get The Alcohol Rehabilitation They Require

Monday, May 31st, 2010

The medical establishment defines numerous medical conditions and illnesses as “silent killers.” Diseases such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnea, mesothelioma, osteoporosis and a number of different kinds of cancer such as colon cancer, lung cancer, rectal cancer, and breast cancer are quite well known silent killers.

These diseases are called silent killers due to the fact that early on in the medical ailment there are commonly few if any symptoms to demonstrate that an issue exists. Then as the medical condition evolves, however, and as the medical difficulties start to become known, a medical crisis can result.

Repeated and Continuous Drinking Is a Silent Killer

I contend that alcohol abuse is also a silent killer. If truth be told, some individuals can drink for a considerable number of years without suffering from any dangerous alcohol related difficulties in their lives. When abusive and hazardous drinking is repeated for many years, it can be highlighted, critical alcohol effects become more noticeable and more problematic. Maybe the best example about which I am articulating happens during the transition from alcohol abuse to alcohol dependency.

Undeniably, several alcohol induced predicaments can be camouflaged and fairly easily hidden while an individual involves herself or himself in excessive and irresponsible drinking. When the individual actually becomes a chronic alcohol abuser or an alcoholic, it can be emphasized, the destructive alcohol effects become very identifiable and more serious. Sadly, this info about alcoholism and alcohol abuse doesn’t seem to be focused upon as much as it ought to be.

Problem Areas That are Negatively Affected by Excessive and Hazardous Drinking As Time Continues

What are some of the areas in life that are adversely affected over time by repeated and continuous problem drinking? When people first start to engage in irresponsible and heavy drinking, they are commonly unaware of what their abusive drinking is doing to their health, to their mental health, to their finances, to their jobs, and to their relationships.

As the abusive and hazardous drinking continues, it may be noted, it commonly leads to commitment, marital, relationship, communication, and friendship problems and often results in affairs and divorce. In a similar manner, many, if not most people who involve themselves in alcohol abuse in the end experience alcohol induced health problems such as sleep disturbances, a loss of energy, alcohol poisoning, and hangovers. Other alcohol related medical conditions include the following: liver disease, sexual problems, vitamin deficiency, stomach ulcers, and nerve damage.

What is more, many, if not most individuals who engage in alcohol abuse eventually experience alcohol related financial issues. Ironically, while a number of alcohol abusers whine about their financial circumstances, they regularly make their financial circumstances even worse by spending more of their money on alcoholic beverages.

Time Management, Anger Management, and Stress Management Issues

In a similar manner, irresponsible drinking typically results in anger management, stress management, and time management difficulties. In addiction, many, if not most people who engage in alcohol abuse, because of their heavy and abusive drinking, ultimatley exhibit employment problems such as showing up late for work, poor performance evaluations, alcohol related accidents, making mistakes on the job, and absenteeism.

Mental Health Issues Like Depression

In addition, excessive and abusive drinking in the end results in a variety of mental health issues like extreme mood swings, anxiety, depression, denial, and obsession. And lastly, it should come as no surprise that people who engage in alcohol abuse can get a DUI almost any night or day of the week due to their excessive and heavy drinking and driving.

The Moral of the Story

The lesson to be learned is this: people who involve themselves in irresponsible drinking need to learn how to drink in moderation and responsibly or get the alcohol detoxification and the alcohol rehab they need. This is important for problem drinkers so that they can either drink responsibly and in moderation or begin to lead an alcohol free life and avoid the host of alcohol related issues articulated above. Undoubtedly, receiving professional alcohol abuse help will be important along these lines.

It is also important for people who involve themselves in abusive drinking to either learn how to drink in moderation or totally abstain from drinking so that they can stay away from a life of alcohol addiction. In sum, individuals who involve themselves in abusive drinking need to refrain from irresponsible and excessive drinking so that they can stay away from the alcohol related silent killers that are correlated with excessive and abusive drinking. Again, getting exceptional alcohol abuse rehab will certainly go a long way toward meeting this goal.
