Self promotion means telling people a bit about your good side

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

I very often see blog posts with a title that reads “Shameless Self Promotion” followed by a small blurb about their new product or their new self help book.  I never understand why so many people say this.  I get blog posts daily related to self promotion and the majority of them are start with the words “a bit of Shameless Self Promotion”.

You might think that the title “Shameless Self Promotion” appears once in a while here and there on a blog or a website. The majority of blogs or internet posts use the word “Shameless”, WOW.  This inspired me to write a self help or self improvement book on how to market and self yourself.

Are you afraid of promoting yourself ?  Do you think people will recent you or block you in some mental or unconscious way? What’s going on?  For starters, most of these internet entries come from people that have great content on their websites and blogs, so promote it, otherwise people will never find out and benefit from that content.

In this article I will give you a new perspective on selling yourself.  You see, self promotion is an impulse that started with survival, with a primal instinct of self preservation.  Soon after it turned into a social skill that also required helping others to survive and strive in society in order to have more people helping each other and, yes, helping you.  This was the beginning of self promotion and it evolved into what we have today.

Now, you also have to remember that if you have a good product or a good service and people will benefit from it there is no shame in promoting it.  After all, you are providing a solution.  This is the most important point of this article.  –If you provide value you need to promote it- This value can be with a product or service and it can also be form your advice, expertise, stories or blog posts.  It is what I call “Unselfish Self Promotion”.

Unselfish Self Promotion means that you provide value first. You always provide some kind of “worth” to sociaty or readers or strangers.  You provide it in content, products, advice and friendship. If you are unselfish and provide value you are using self promotion, or “unselfish self promotion”.

Encouragement Words And New Start

Friday, May 29th, 2009

If you are at the turning point in your life i.e you feel like you need a change or a fresh start after a certain ordeal then letters of encouragement can play a major factor in getting you up and going.

I can think of a million reasons why you may be feeling a need to start all over again.

1.    The loss of a loved one: There are also different losses in this category. For example, you can lose someone you love through death. I remember a friend of mine who lost a loved one about two years ago and up until now he still keeps her images in his cellphone. He still cries sometimes especially on some occasions that reminds him of her.

If you want to put the past behind and move on then you need to really believe that you can and it okay to move on. Do not feel like you are neglecting her memory or simply forgetting about him or her. Let the past inspire you to face the future instead of having it hold you back.

2.    New job: cards of encouragement are a must have for someone in a new office. I remember the first day I started working. That was one of the most difficult days in my life – I mean I was so nervous. It takes time to get used to a new office. Allow a few days to get used to the place before you give up on it. Before you know it you will be comfortable and reaching your full potential at work.

3.    New country: if you have just moved into a new town I can only imagine how difficult it is for you. One of the keys to feeling comfortable in a new location is to try and go out to meet new people|If you want to get over being home sick then you need to take the first step. You can hook up with some people, watch movies or find some free words of encouragement over the net. Either way, you will forget about where you are for a moment and by the time you come back to reality you will be too strong to be depressed.

Inspiring Words Of Encouragement

Friday, May 29th, 2009

If you are trying to comfort someone who is in pain due to the loss of a loved one then you need to read this article.

At times it may feel like there is no need to offer encouraging words to someone who is aching. In most instances when you share Christian encouragement words that grieving person may decide not to consider a word of what you are sharing.

No matter how it seems, everyone needs some words that can encourage him or her. Sharing such words is more like planting a seed. It can take sometime before you see the full results of your hard labour.

Similarly when sharing words of encouragement, never stop simply because you are not getting the reaction you expect. Keep sharing your words through a letter of encouragement or something close like poems or cards and don’t even think about giving up.

It may be that the person who is hurting is still fresh from the ordeal and needs time to digest everything. Summon all of your strength and patience and help the person the best way you can. Do not try and set a time table for the person to get over what ever it is he or she is grieving for – depending on the extent of the pain or disappointment.

I had a friend who lost a loved one once and it took more than two years to start talking about her without crying. It turned out everything we kept saying to him over the years – in terms of encouragement, helped him to heal eventually. We didn’t know we were making that kind of an impact at the time.

So no matter how useless you think it is to thinking about writing sample encouragement letters taken from the most inspirational sites always remember that they are helping her or hime to live through each day. Stay strong and never stop sharing positively into your friend’s life until you see a positive change.
